Don't pray for humility. It's not worth it.

It's not worth never getting to be the one who's right--even about yourself.
It's not worth all the unsolicited, condescending and patronizing advice.
It's not worth feeling like you are this big all the time.
It's not worth listening to people drone on and on (and on) about nothing when you want to get a word in edgewise about something that you're stoked about.
It's not worth heaps of criticism that fail to recognize the positive progress being made.
It's not worth people thinking you are a seriously messed up doormat and trying to "fix" you.

I really believe this, except...

Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 18:4)

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. (Ephesians 4:2)

The brother in humble circumstances ought to take pride in his high position. (James 1:9)

But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." (James 4:6)

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. (1 Peter 5:6)

He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way. (Psalm 25:9)

For the LORD takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with salvation. (Psalm 149:4)

Once more the humble will rejoice in the LORD; the needy will rejoice in the Holy One of Israel. (Isaiah 29:19)

Has not my hand made all these things, and so they came into being?" declares the LORD. "This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at my word. (Isaiah 66:2)

if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

It wouldn't be worth it to be humble, except...

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death—even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
